Obituary of Edith Mae Williams
Edith Mae (Essenson) Williams, 89, of New Milford, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 30th at Danbury Hospital. She was born on March 31, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Thomsen) Essenson. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Moschetta, Hazel Dougherty, Virginia Tomlinson and her brother Charles Essenson.
Edith was a former resident of Brookfield for over 20 years. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She had a gift for interior decorating, loved art, and animals, and was always dressed impeccably and fashionably. She enjoyed traveling and just last year went on an excursion to New Mexico and Arizona with her daughter and great grandson. Edith loved being a grandmother to Lindsay Hayduk and John Hayduk and treasured her role as great grandmother to Lindsay’s son, Tyler Buttendorf. Edith is survived by her only child, Elise Miller (George) of New Milford, with whom she lived and enjoyed an incredibly close and loving relationship. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Edith possessed the kind of warm and charismatic personality that made her someone to whom others were drawn. She brought much beauty to the world during her almost 90 years here on earth and she will be sorely missed by the many whose heart she touched.
Funeral Services for Edith will be held at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd, Brookfield on Monday February 4th at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, New Milford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning between 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS).
