To Jamie's Family -
I am the mother of a 21 year old son who has vEDS. I "met" Jamie online about 10 years ago through a support group, and we became quite close over the years. Its hard to explain how an online friendship can be so real, but it definitely was. Jamie was always open and honest with me about her experiences, and helped me more than she will ever know as I struggled with raising my son with this disease. What drew me to her was that she knew full well what she was facing, and yet she pursued her best life with her whole heart, and managed to smile, and find the fun in life in spite of her challenges. I remember when she had her brain issues on her cruise several years ago, and we were so scared for her. Then to see her find love and make a life for herself, was truly inspiring. I lost my husband to this disease, and know all too well the road you find yourselves on now. Please know that there is a large community of people who loved Jamie very much, and who will be keeping you all in our thoughts and our hearts in the weeks and months to come. She was a remarkable, wonderful light in our world, and we will never forget her.
