Obituary of Valerie Streaman
Valerie Jean (Miller) Streaman of New Milford , formerly of Brookfield, age 87, passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2019 at New Milford Hospital. Valerie was born in New Haven, CT on August 16, 1931 to the late John and Rose Fenton Miller. She was the widow of William Streaman.
Valerie was very proud of being a teacher working in the Brookfield School System and retiring from the Bethel School System. She was a diehard Patriot's and Lady Huskies fan. It is believed that Valerie was the first female referee in collegiate basketball and always enjoyed time spent with her family.
Valerie will be missed by her children: Sharon Bolander of Danbury, Paul Streaman and his wife Barbara of New Milford, Susan Chelioudakis and her husband Stavros of New Milford, Bill Streaman of New Milford, Lisa Streaman of New Mexico and Patrick Streaman of Brookfield; her sister Mary-Rose George of New Hampshire;14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at St. Joseph Church , 163 Whisconier Rd., Brookfield. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
