Obituary of Geraldine Marie Bartus
Geraldine (Geri) Bartus, 90, of Farmington Hills Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 5, 2019 while being cared for by her daughter and son-in-law in their home in Brookfield, CT. Geri was the first-born child to the late Helen and Francis Kowalski on November 6, 1928 in Michigan and was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Bartus.
Geri loved her family deeply. She also loved cooking, reading, traveling and debating politics. She had a head for business, was self-employed as a lifelong crafter, worked in banking and Awry's Bakery in her younger years.
Geri is survived by her son, Paul Bartus and his wife, Susan of Livonia, Michigan and her daughter Dyann Calder and her husband Bob of Brookfield, Connecticut; known as "Nanny" to her five grandchildren: Chris Bartus and his wife Heather, Carrie Halsey and her husband Jeff, Matt Bartus and his wife Amanda, Jackie (Calder) and Alex (Calder); and her six great-grandchildren: Eva and Alayna, Peyton and Logan, Tucker and Patrick. Geri was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret, Delphine and Caroline, and her brother, Larry.
A memorial service is planned for the spring in the Farmington Hills, Michigan area. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the WoundedWarriorProject.org in Geri's honor.
