Obituary
Obituary of Cosimo Richard Rosa
Richard Rosa, age 92 of New Milford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at Danbury Hospital. He was born February 27, 1928 in the Bronx, New York to the late John and Veronica "Anne" Rizzo. Richard was the loving husband of the late Mary Rosa.
Hard as nails and soft as butter, Rich possessed an incredible zest for life and was equally moved to tears and laughter by the big and little moments. His life was marked by a self-directed hunger for knowledge with which he nimbly navigated professional, financial, and familial paths. In his professional life, Rich worked as a construction worker, operating engineer, mason, plumber, carpenter, builder, and electrician. In all this, he was a master - people passing by would often stop and watch him perform his craft. When learning new skills he was patient with himself and with those around him. Even when technology wasn’t working, he would still try to learn about it and figure out how to solve the issue. Life was a beautiful puzzle for him and he felt joy in observing and connecting the pieces. He was not a man of many words, but if anybody ever needed anything, he was there without hesitation. Whether it was building a house or making potent orange-cello, Rich knew the answer and would share his wisdom with whomever was near. Richard, the son of Italian immigrants, lived through many changes of the world and he faced them all with gusto. He loved sharing stories of old New York and the lives of the Italian people, but was just as excited about what was new. In his final days, Rich was journaling about who he was spending time with. He was at peace in life and had a “good, sunshine” filled year.
Richard is survived by his children: Ann Marie Rosa and her significant other, John Pastor of Danbury, and Richard Rosa and his wife, Julianne Tchobanoglous of Delaware; his grandchildren: John Paul Morabito, Jenna Morabito and her partner Saney Ung, Rachel Rosa and Jacalyn Rosa; his great-grandchildren: Nico and Nadia; and his brothers: Frank Rosa and Dennis Rosa. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother John "Jr" Rosa.
