Hi Roberta,
It's been 2 or 3 years since i've been back to Danbury and visited the old neighborhood but each time I did I'd stop in and visit with your Mom for a little while. It was a special time for both of us and a chance to reminisce a bit on the past growing up next door to one another. She would fill me in on how you were doing and she was able to provide a perspective of me from the week i was born to when i moved away in the mid 1980's. The early 80's changed a lot for both our familes with the passing of your Father and in 1982, both my parents passing just 7 months apart. For 20 + years i'd watch as your Mom planted her flowers on the wall separating our properties. As i grew up from a teen to my early 20's I'd come over and have a beer with your Father when he'd call me over. When i started my first real career I'd go over and your Mom would hem up my pants. And how she loved her sewing and her gardening and cooking. I can still see all the garlic cloves in the refrigerator in the garage now. I went to Bethel today to pay my respects to my parents for the holiday and decided to head up Wixted Ave to see my old house and to check in with your Mom for a few minutes. As i got to the top of the hill i saw some unfamiliar vehicles and a truck pulling in.It was then that I parked out front of my old house and, I guess knowing already what the answer was going to be I looked up her name on the internet. It's tough to take all those memories in at once. It's like a lifetime of everything that ever was really important. That wall will never look the same without her flowers to grace it. And, i think that with her passing, the old neighborhood has finally changed hands to a new generation. I hope their memories are as good as ours were. On one of my last times seeing your Mom I had coffee with her and decided to take a picture of her when she went to answer a call. I'm glad i did and have it to share with you. Mrs Mazzoli, as she will forever be known to me and my family, We were lucky to call you and your family our neighbors. Tell Mac I've got a cold beer in the fridge for him. Take care of yourself Roberta. Rick Judd
