Obituary of Barbara Matyka

New Fairfield – Mrs. Barbara A. (Miller) Matyka, age 82, of New Fairfield, died Wednesday June 3, 2020 at the Glen Hill Center in Danbury.

Mrs. Matyka was born June 29, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late William and Mary Jean (Mangis) Miller and was retired after working, for 19 years, as a LPN at Fairfield Hills Hospital.

Mrs. Matyka is survived by her daughters: Kim Holczinger and her husband Joe of New Fairfield, Karen Matyka of Sebastian, FL., Janice Cavanaugh of MA. And Joan Knudsen and her husband Brian of Ft. Pierce, FL, her siblings: William Miller and his wife Cathy, Dorothy DelPrato, Jeannie Kenna and Joanne Dick and her husband Jim, her brother in law: John Kielzewski, her 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister: Ruth Kielzewski, and her brother in law: Bernard DelPrato.

Mrs. Matyka’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Monday June 29, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Applicable CDC and State of Connecticut regulations will be followed.
