Dear Hocking Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of Joe from high school especially around the lunch table. He always made us laugh. Later on after high school we reconnected as I was a frequent shopper at the CVS in Bethel. Always smiling and asking how I was doing it was a pleasure seeing him everything I walked in. My deepest condolences to the Hocking family on the loss of your son, brother and uncle. He was a friend from college and we had many mutual friends in common. I saw him not that long ago and you wouldn’t have known he was fighting cancer with his positive attitude and smile. We are all saddened by the news of his passing way too soon and know he will live on in the hearts of many who loved him.

Where to begin, from the bike rides to hockey games, football and baseball. The GAP verse LAP Joe was always there and you could count on him to give 110% no matter what we were doing. It’s like a bad dream all of this. You were always there no matter what. As we grew older and our lives took different roads I knew you were a phone call away and as you said at my wedding “I would take on a small army for you” I know those words were very true. You were a co best man at my wedding and I could not have picked a better guy for that role. You taught me to play and love hockey, I passed down that passion down to my son Johnny who loves the sport as well. Me, you, Matt and Paulo shared a childhood that will last forever. It was the kind that you read about in books or see in a good movie. We have a bond that will never go away! I was always proud to call you my best friend in high school then brother went we were done. I will always remember the fun and crazy times that we shared. Till I see you again brother Rest In Peace. How can I forget the “undefeated” Joe Hocking senior wrestler that you were.
