The Measure of a Man by Martin Luther King, Jr.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. Nothing worthwhile is easy. Your ability to overcome unfavorable situations will provide you with time to demonstrate your true strength and determination for success. Always set your standards high, your greatest achievements lie within the infinite feats you achieve in your life.
Such a man was John Luicci. We will miss him greatly. Bonnie and Bob Stampp

Jo, please accept my deepest condolences. As you know I worked with John at the PO all those years. His humor kept us in great spirits... and his joke telling, omg!
Only in the later years did I appreciate how much you both gave to our community. We were all enriched by John's time on earth with us. Keep well Jo.

Dear Jo,
My family extends their deepest condolences on the passing if your beloved John.
He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. We first knew him as postal worker (both my dad and late husband in NF) but saw him most on the baseball diamond as umpire. He was a man of many talents and a real people person.
He is greatly missed.

John and Jo have been long-time friends to my husband, John, and myself, since they had two cairns of ours, Danny & Susie. John always led off every visitation with a joke, and his sense of humor was all-encompassing. In later years, we would meet for lunches and catch up with each other. It was always a special treat for me when I got to be with them. I truly will miss John, with his wit and his charm and his stories. Dear Jo, please know that I will always be there for you.

Hi John, thank you for being an inspiration in my life! I always tried my best when I played baseball (in my younger years) and thought of you while running the bases to home. Your jokes would bring me to laughter and brighten my day. I enjoyed when you took us out on your boat and shared your stories of being on the police force, you are a brave man! Thank you John for being a mentor in my life. God has a special place for you in Heaven.
Love,

Hi Cousin John - I’m happy that you are at Peace now. I’ve known you my whole life and I have so many fond memories.. from when you hung out with us on Long Island (thanks for the PAL t-shirts) to all the outdoor musicals we attended with cousin Jo (stopping at Stew Leonard’s for fried chicken first!) So many great times to look back on. I pray that God shines his Heavenly Light on you!
Love,

Rest In Peace, Cousin John. We will all miss you. The last time we got to see you and Jo, we had a blast as usual and took a ride on your boat. I always loved the ping pong table you had ready for us downstairs, and I'll never forget your sense of humor that always made me laugh! You were so cool! Rest easy.
Love Dave

Dearest Jo,
You are John’s beautiful bride and the two of you simply glowed with your love for one another which will live on for eternity.
The Lord filled John with His Grace which he, in turn, shared with so many of us. He lit up every visit with his energy, humor, joy, and love. We were truly blessed to have him as our beautiful friend and will cherish him forever. He has been welcomed Home with the warmest of greetings. May God comfort you. All our love. I love this guy. And reading the posts I did not know he went to Fordham. It is very difficult to get into Fordham. And the guy who grew up with him in Harlem is a great story. We went on their boat hung out at their beautiful home and they had great dogs. The one night we slept over the dog finally came over and slept next to me. I love baseball and we would talk about it in detail. He also produced the only film of my wedding which we still have. 1998. Uncle John and Aunt Jo was a term of endearment as we are not related. We just love them unconditionally. Then my Mom daughter and I were supposed to go to CT to see them in April because my daughter is going to college in CT. We had it planned. About to book hotels then darn Covid. Everything was cancelled. In the end the time we had together will suffice because I could not find a better 2nd Father figure. He gave me great advice over the years in kind ways.
Kind. Gentle. Gent! They don’t make them like that anymore. Gods speed Aunt Jo
Love you
Doug

Hi John,
You had a great run here on earth. Now you’re up there with St. Peter, your Mom (Aunt Sally), Dad (Uncle Joe), and your Uncle Louie. If you run into Pat (my wife), tell her I miss her.
My earliest memories (late 40’s) are from your neighborhood in Italian Harlem on East 107 street between 1st and 2nd Ave. We climbed 3 floors to your apartment and on each floor, you could smell what the neighbors were cooking.
Remember when you were about 15 (I was 10) and my Dad drove us to Florida with both our Moms. You were a Dodger fan (until they moved) and we stopped at their Spring Training in Vero Beach and said hello to Jackie Robinson.
Thanks for inviting me to join your fast pitch softball team. You played right field with great fielding, great arm, and no hitting, and I played left field with lousy fielding, no arm and some hitting.
I could go on for hours about all the shared times with you and Jo. Most important is the love you and Jo gave to Pat, Deb, Dave, Dan and me. You remain with us.
Love, Cousin Bob

Working the window with John at the Post Office there was never a dull moment. Jokes were endless. I throughly enjoyed the coffee Jo made for him every morning and to this day would love to know the secret which he would never reveal! John accomplished so much in life and although he may never have had the time to volunteer for everything he did, he certainly had the heart! Rest In Peace My Friend I’ll miss you

John was a man who shared all he had, his time and treasure. He volunteered countless hours in so many causes. His generosity helped make life pleasant ( ex. the piano at the hospital). And he did it all with two constants: his great smile and Jo by his side.

My family and I feel so blessed to have known John. He always had a great joke to tell and was so kind to my grandchildren. Jo & John were one of my first friends when I moved to the lake. They kept their boat at my house and it was a joy to see how sweet they were enjoying the beauty of the lake, life & love. They came to all the grandchildren’s Christenings to which Michael & Aalyssa r 20 now, Nick 17 & Myleigh & ReyJ 14. We did nothing but laugh when we had dinners together at Valentine’s Day & Jo’s Birthday. We feel honored that he was in our lives and will miss him dearly, We thank God for knowing this great man.
