To Marilyn and your beautiful family. We are so privileged to know you both and feel like part of your family. Watching Donnie with you showed us what true love and respect means. He will be sorely missed by so many. Such a kind man.

Dear Marilyn and the Hassiak family. I am so sorry to hear of Donny's passing. He truly had a heart as big as all outdoors. I know he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. I am proud to have called him my friend.

I will be forever grateful for my time spent with the Hassiak family and for taking me in as their third kid for a bit. Donnie always made sure I got up on time for school, looked presentable and missing out on breakfast with the oldies blasting from the kitchen was never an option. Miss you all, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers - God Bless.

Our sincere sympathy to Marilyn and all of Don's family. We were blessed to have known Don. We will always remember his kindness, his smile and mischievous sense of humor. The way he and Marilyn kidded one another when we saw them at social events. He was so involved in the Brookfield Lions Club - collecting eyeglasses and shipping them for those in need, organizing and manning Shred Day, participating in almost every fundraiser or service activity, and driving the "Sag Wagon" at our local road races protecting the runners right down to the final straggler. We will miss him. Rest in peace Don, you have earned your wings ! David and Barbara Moissonnier

When I first started in Brookfield, the very first person I was introduced to was Donnie and Vern and the squirrel in the cage! He always made me laugh and when I was at an accident scene I knew it would take care of right. Marilyn always made sure Don treated me well, and if she thought he didn't, well I was glad I wasn't him. Rest well my old friend - I will always remember your kindness.

To Marilyn and all the Brookfield Lions, I'm so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I'll remember him with raffle tickets poking out of his pocket to help sell them. He collected the eyeglasses and refilled gumball machines. Always a smile on his face.

A gracious, kind and loving man. With a heart as big as all outdoors, he welcomed us into his home as family, and we treasured him as our family as well. We will ALWAYS treasure his memory in our hearts. His legacy is obviously one of love and caring - and it will carry on through all who have known him. Heaven is richer to have him, and we are richer for having known him.
With deepest sympathy,
Kathy & Richard Slinsky

This is beyond sad news. Don was a gentleman's gentleman. He was an amazing Lion who worked non-stop doing Lion activities helping all that needed it. He tragically lost his son a few year's ago, but continued to persevere to his fullest. Marilyn was his best friend and it showed in their faces as they beamed whenever they were together. God Speed Don, you were as nice a man as I could have ever imagined!!
