Obituary of Dale E. Halas, Sr.
Dale E. Halas, Sr., 78, of Sherman, beloved husband of Linda (Maas) Halas, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 17th. He was born in Danbury on December 2, 1942, son of the late Emil and Mildred (Ferry) Halas.
Dale worked as an engineer at SNET for 30 years. Upon his retirement he owned and operated Dale E. Halas LLC, specializing in landscaping and home remodeling. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, boating, and enjoying Candlewood Lake. Dale also served as president of the New Fairfield-Sherman Sportsman's Association.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, Linda, he will be sadly missed by his son, Dale E. Halas, Jr. and his wife, Laura; his daughter-in-law, Maritza Halas; his three daughters, Michelle Maas Deane and her husband, Matt, Lori Maas and her husband, Dallas Hayes, and Kymberly M. Lahr and her husband, J. Gregory; as well as eight grandchildren, Dillon, Scot Jr., and Tyler Halas; Carter and Miles Deane; Gregory, Catalana, and Siena Lahr; and his ever-faithful Springer Spaniel, Duke. He was predeceased by his son Scot T. Halas.
A Graveside Service will be held in Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield, on Tuesday, February 23rd at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory may be made to preserve Candlewood Lake at www.CandlewoodLakeAuthority.org, or to the CT Waterfowl Association at CTWaterFowlers.org.
