Obituary of Margaret Coughlin
Margaret (Marge) Coughlin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at her home.
Marge was born in Queens, New York, on August 6, 1932 to Adolf and Elisabeth Buelken. She had a brother Ronald Buelken, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Daniel J. Coughlin, three daughters Elizabeth Doyle, Joan Dickinson, Linda Fergusson and son, Sean Coughlin, grandchildren Christopher and Meghan Fergusson, Sam Dickinson, Kristin Doyle, Lauren, Allie and Liam Coughlin and 5 great grandchildren.
She grew up in Queens, NY and worked at the Daily Times. She met her husband Dan at Jones beach. They married on March 15, 1953 at St. Andrews Church in Queens. Dan and Marge moved to Danbury, Connecticut where they raised their family.
Marge was the center of her family, raising children and assisting with her husband’s sporting good business, the Sport Mart in Westport, Connecticut. She went to Henry Abbott Technical School to became an LPN and was top in her class. She was very active within her neighborhood community, as well as,the Danbury area volunteering at Dorothy Day and Habitat for Humanity.
They spent summers at the Jersey shore at their beach house, opening it up to family and friends from all over. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, she had a strong faith, loved to read, travelled extensively and lived life to the fullest. Marge and Dan had a long and loving marriage for 67 years.
Marge will be missed dearly by family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be held on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. All current COVID 19 regulations will be strictly adhered to. The Cornell Memorial Home 247 White St. Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
