Obituary of Consuelo Lins McGowan
Consuelo McGowan died peacefully on February 21st, 2021 at Hancock Hall in Danbury, CT.
Consuelo Lins was born June 14, 1927 in the Phillipines to Colonel Harry and Jane Corcoran Lins. She travelled the world growing up as her father was stationed globally for the U.S. Army. One of her favorite homes was in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She graduated from Smith College in 1948 with a degree in English. She married Francis Joseph McGowan III in August 1950 which later ended in divorce. She had 2 daughters, Kelley Perry Kinnicutt of Wakefield, RI and Julie McGowan who died in 2012. Consuelo is survived by her devoted daughter, Kelley, 3 grandchildren, Timothy and wife, Kerry of Hopkinton, NH, Christopher and wife Heather of Concord, NH and William of Burlington, VT. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Weston, Finlay and Walter. Consuelo loved reading, travel, the ballet, the beach, Frank Sinatra and Block Island. She lived close to 40 years in Chappaqua, NY with various cats to keep her company. She had a career of about 40 years at the Readers’ Digest as Assistant to the Editor in Chief. Her career was her great love affording her lots of international travel and many dear friends who were so important to her. Connie did various volunteer work with literacy, food banks, and the Katonah Art Gallery. A small family gathering will be arranged for the Spring at Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury, CT. In lieu of flowers any donations to Feeding America.org would be greatly appreciated.
