Obituary of Arlene Mary Callahan
New Fairfield – Mrs. Arlene M. (Ryan) Callahan, age 65, of New Fairfield, passed away Saturday February 27, 2021 in New Fairfield. She was the wife of James F. Callahan.
Mrs. Callahan was born June 15, 1955 in Queens, New York, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Behr) Ryan. She worked for many years as an account manager at Honeywell Corporation, was an active communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield where she served as a church trustee, a eucharistic minister and a safe environments trainer and was also active with Boy Troop 137.
In addition to her husband James, Mrs. Callahan is survived by her children: Colleen Cooney and her husband Michael of Fairfield, James Callahan and his wife Rebecca of Southbury, Sean Callahan of New Fairfield, William Callahan of New Fairfield and Clare Callahan of New Fairfield, her siblings: Catherine Quinn of Garden City, NY, John Ryan and his wife Christa of Spokane, WA, Jean Von Anken and her husband William of Hillsdale, NY, Thomas Ryan of Teaneck, NJ, and Maureen Powers of New Fairfield, her mother in law: Maria Callahan of New Milford, her grandchildren: Patrick, Liam, Connor and Ciaran Cooney and Declan Callahan and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in law: James F. Callahan, Sr., her brother in law: Anthony Quinn and her nephew: Michael Quinn.
Mrs. Callahan’s family will receive relatives and friends with a walk through visitation on Wednesday March 3, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White St. Danbury. All current COVID 19 regulations will be strictly adhered to. Attendees are asked to please wear a mask and remain socially distanced from each other and the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday March 4, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic church capacity is limited to 150 attendees. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to please preregister on the funeral home website. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in New Fairfield.
