Obituary of Sr. Mary Vincenza Gagliostro, SSND
Sister Vincenza Gagliostro, a School Sister of Notre Dame, died at Pascack Valley Hospital in New Jersey, on Holy Saturday, April 3, 2021 at age 80. She had been residing in Cresskill, NJ.
After pronouncing her first vows in 1961 in Baltimore, Maryland, Sister Vincenza taught in Passaic, New Jersey, and in Rochester and Brooklyn, New York. For the remaining years of her ministerial life, she was Director of Religious Education in parishes; Coordinator of Religious Education and Education Consultant for the Archdiocese of Hartford, Connecticut; and Writer/Consultant for Religious Books for Grolier Publishing Company in Ohio.
Sister retired to Villa Notre Dame in Wilton, in 1998, and was cared for at Lourdes Health Care Center from 2003. Sister’s coffin will be blessed at the front door of Villa Notre Dame by the SSND community, family and friends, on April 10, at 11 am. (Masks and distancing in effect) At 11:45, burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel, Connecticut. A Memorial Liturgy will be held at a later date.
