Obituary of Amelia Elizabeth Miller
Amelia Elizabeth (Macauley) Miller, 82, passed away on April 6, 2021. “Liz”, a lifelong resident of Danbury, was born an only child to William (Bill) and Amelia Elizabeth (Beard) Macauley. She graduated from Danbury High and was married to her high school sweetheart, Lester F. Miller Jr., for 57 years until his passing in 2014.
Liz was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She served in various capacities at the Danbury United Methodist Church, volunteered at Danbury Hospital and was a tireless advocate of the mentally ill, serving on the board of Interlude for several years. Like her mother, she was a gifted pianist but what brought Liz the most joy in life was family. Her family was her passion. Pot roast dinner followed by a game of Scrabble on Sundays at Grandma’s will forever remain some of the most cherished memories. Ever the consummate hostess, there was always room at the table and enough food for “one more” in Lizzie’s home, all were made to feel welcome.
She is survived by her three children; Lisa (Jerry) Rutledge, Les Miller III, and Brian (Bridgette) Miller, five grandchildren; Jessica (Steven) Sirko, Justin (Alison) Rutledge, Jonathan Rutledge, Sarah Miller and Rachel Miller, one great granddaughter; Annabella Rutledge and several nieces and nephews. It is important to mention that Liz was lovingly cared for during the last 4 years of her life by the skilled staff of the Villa at The Watermark at East Hill, Southbury for which her family is very grateful. Services and burial were held privately.
In lieu of flowers gifts in memory of Liz to the Danbury United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Rd, Danbury, CT 06811 are appreciated.
