Obituary of Kaarn Elizabeth George

Kaarn Elizabeth George

1951-2021

Kaarn Elizabeth George (Fiedler,Taylor) of New Milford, CT, died peacefully on the morning of May 16th, 2021 at Danbury Hospital after a short- but long battle with cancer. The daughter of William and Doris Fiedler, Kaarn was born on June 9th, 1951 at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut.

Kaarn has touched many souls over her years, giving everyone she came in contact with a laugh or at the bare minimum a smile. She started working at an early age- and held quite the list of jobs throughout her life. From farm hand to banker and everything in-between, “Grammy” did it.

In her free time, she loved to read. Her family has many memories of visiting her to find her outside on the deck listening to nature with a book in her hand. Time spent with her family was what she yearned for. Kaarn loved the ocean, and loved singing and musical production even more. A knowledgeable lover of animals due her dog breeding years while young, she was the first one you’d call when an animal needed medical attention or even a home. Although some of Kaarn’s life is unknown to her family- they can find peace and laughter in the stories she has shared with them over the years regarding her year working in the Carnival, her musical adventures with friends at festivals (even attending the great Woodstock festival channeling her inner flowerchild), and plucking chickens at the farm!

As a single mom, Kaarn raised three children in Danbury, Connecticut, and later in New Fairfield, Connecticut. Although only a biological mother to three children- she was a mother to many more. Providing shelter, love, and guidance to the friends of her children throughout their childhood years. Specifically Shawn Shelly of Winchendon, Massachusetts, and Todd Froelich of Connecticut. Kaarn has spent her fair share of time on the soccer fields, both coaching and supporting her family.

Kaarn is survived by her three children (Nathan Taylor and his wife Erin Taylor, Darrel Taylor and his partner Theresa Cohelo, and her namesake Kaarn Elizabeth “Beth” Taylor and her partner Walter Hopkins). She is predeceased by her brother David, and half-brother Eric. Kaarn has many grandchildren. Known as “Grammy” or “Gram” to Morgan Shaun Taylor and Nicholas Ryan, Shanyce (Blanding) and Jacob Nicholls, Setira Taylor-Wray, Ciara Taylor, Tyrese Hopkins, Ariana Katelyn Taylor, and the last but not the least- Payton Mae Taylor. She will be granted the title of “Great Grammy” in October to Shanyce and Jacob’s baby girl that she surely will be watching over from above. Kaarn wasn’t just a grandmother, she was thee “Grammy” to friends of every biological grandchild. She will be remembered by them for all her hip dances, her young lingo, her cinnamon sugar butter toast, and of course- her coffee.

Kaarn will be deeply missed. Family and friends will remember her as a nurturing, kind, spiritually deep, wholesome individual and her absence in the physical world will not go unnoticed.

Friends of Kaarn will be received on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Cornell Memorial Funeral Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, CT, 06810. All attendees are asked to please wear a mask. A private service for family will follow.

Flowers can be sent to Cornell Memorial home for services, or memorial contributions may be made in Kaarn’s memory to the Animal Welfare Society of New Milford to provide for animals as Kaarn was never one to turn down a stray cat.
