Obituary of Stephen M. Gallagher
Stephen Gallagher passed away peacefully at his home in Southbury, CT at the age of 63 surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by his father Thomas F. Gallagher, Stephen is survived by his mother, Frances (Bonacci) Gallagher, his brothers Thomas, John and Pete, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Danbury on October 9, 1957, Stephen spent most of his life thriving at Southbury Training School, where his positive spirit and joy of living made him a favorite of staff, administration and visitors alike. Stephen especially enjoyed people watching, laughing, visits from his mother and father, outings to local attractions, fast vehicle rides and bumps, and attention from the fairer gender. While he often wore a New York Yankees hat, at least one of his brothers was dubious of any allegiance and believes that deep down Stephen was probably a Mets fan.
The Gallagher family is forever indebted to Stephen’s family at Southbury Training School for the loving care and accompaniment they provided throughout his life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the staff of 7A and 34.
A graveside memorial for Stephen will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT on Wednesday, June 30 at 11AM.
