Obituary of Sharon Lynn Somers
Sharon Somers passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16th at 7:16 AM, surrounded by family and loved ones. Sharon battled and fought Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for the past year and a half. She was a fighter and a lover. Sharon cared the most about her family, giving them her life, and unconditional love. Sharon was the daughter of William and Monica Schmitt, the sister of William and Richard Schmitt, the wife of Ken Somers, and the mother to Nancy Dahlgren, Robert Korzenko, Janice Paynter, and Trisha Somers. She was an aunt to 11; she had 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren that she loved and adored endlessly. Sharon lit up around children and babies, she was a mother and grandmother to all; it was her favorite job. She loved to spoil her family and make excuses for them to get out of homework. She loved to cook for them and always had a bed for those who needed it. She loved to wake up to a Devil Dog and coffee and she spent her weekends ruling the bingo floor. She was kind and she was stubborn, she was a force to be reckoned with and a home to come home to. She was witty, she was smart and she had a great sense of humor. She loved pasta and hot fudge sundaes and loved her milkshakes till the end. Sharon was able to say “I love you” and “goodbye” to all of her loved ones before she rested peacefully. She brought the family together and she brought stillness to the world of chaos. Sharon will live on in spirit and in her family. If you find a coin on the ground, know that she is near. Her stories, her phrases, and her favorite foods will remain in everyone’s memory, for she was loved. She is not gone but more present than ever. She will be remembered and loved for years and years to come. She is with family now and forever with the lord. Rest easy Sharon, we love you.
