Obituary of Carmela Nestro
Carmela “Millie” Nestro, 84, loving wife of the late Nicholas Nestro, died at Danbury hospital on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. She was born on November 29, 1936 in Bronx, NY, daughter to the late Joseph and Anne Sammartano (Pinto).
Millie worked at The Danbury News Times for many years where she made many friends. She loved to crochet, cook, and care for her potted plants. Shopping was one of her passions, earning her the nickname “Mrs. B”.. or “Mrs.Bradleess”. With a true sense a style, she always looked her best. Although Millie was a true born and bred New Yorker, her home in Danbury captivated a special part of her heart.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons, James Filomio Sr. (Anna) and Stephen Nestro (Elizabeth), her four grandchildren James Vincent Filomio Jr., Julie Marie (Filomio) Martinez, Alexandra Laurel Nestro, and Nicolas Nestro; and her great grandson Roman James Martinez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 31, at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Church Scarsdale, NY. Entombment will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.
