Obituary of Theresa A (Suchocki) York

Theresa York entered this world on October 3, 1930 and departed on her 91st birthday on October 3, 2021.  She grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey where she met her husband, John.  She raised her four children before reentering the work world after John’s untimely passing of Leukemia in 1974.  Mom enjoyed many beach vacations in Rhode Island with her grandchildren. She was incredibly proud of her work with the residents of Brookfield, CT where she served as tax collector for many years. 

She was predeceased by her husband, John and her daughter, Joan.  Theresa is survived by her daughters Ann Leffert and her husband Tim of Southport, Beth Berger and her husband Fred of Carolina Shores, NC, her son Jon of Nantucket, as well as her grandchildren Matt Leffert and his wife Jenn of Brooklyn, NY, Jamie Leffert and her partner Mike Brown of Brooklyn, NY, Chris Wendt and his wife Katie of Stratford, and Ryan Wendt and his fiancé Cammy Scofield of Waterbury.  She is also survived by her great grandson, Mason Wendt as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank the staff at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield, CT for their compassionate care of Theresa these past six years.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Be the Match Foundation.  Services will be private.
