Obituary of Ann J Thomas
Ann Judith (McLellan) Thomas of New Milford, passed away November 8, 2021 at New Milford Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of over 65 years to William Thomas.
Ann was born December 20, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Raymond and Helen McLellan. She earned her Master’s degree in Education and taught all over the country including California, Connecticut and finally retiring from the Wauconda, Illinois School District. Schooling was in Ann’s blood; even in her retirement, she was active in the after-school program Education Connection at the Mitchell School in Woodbury for 15 years.
Ann loved to knit and knitted prayer shawls for many years donating them to the Cancer Center at New Milford Hospital. She was famous for her pies and baked them at the Rolling Pin Bakery that she owned along with her husband, Bill. Ann was also very active in the Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield having served as a Deacon and later, an Elder.
In addition to her husband Bill, Ann will be sadly missed by her children: Craig Thomas of New Milford, Jeffrey Thomas and his wife Leslie of New Preston, and Jennifer Allen and her husband Daniel of New Milford; grandchildren: Ryan Thomas, Heather Johnson and her husband Keith, Evan Thomas, Venessa Travieso, Natasha Travieso and her significant other Ryan Craig, Kayla Thomas, Sarah Allen, and Rachel Allen; great-grandchildren: Cypress, Bodhi, Ethan, Alexander, Jessenia, Alexa, Justin, Gianna, Cohen and Liliana. She will also be missed by her brother, Reverend Michael McLellan and his wife, Marietta.
Visitation will be held at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield on Thursday November 11, 2021 from 10am – 11am with a Church Service at 11am. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery New Milford. All are requested to wear a mask while in the Church.
