Obituary of Teresa Mary Stewart
Teresa M. Stewart, 74, formerly of Danbury, came Home to Jesus on Wednesday, December 1st, with her adoring husband, Jeffrey, and their five sons by her side. She was born in West Hartford, on June 28, 1947, daughter of the late Stan and Alice Szczapa,
Terri started playing the piano at an early age and became an accomplished performer. After graduating from Northwest Catholic High School, she attended the Hart School of Music where she honed her craft and became a classical pianist.
It was a blind date that brought Terri and Jeffrey Stewart together, and for over 50 years following, they never left each other’s side. Family was always first and foremost to Terri and she and Jeff expanded theirs to include 5 sons and daughters-in-law and 10 grandchildren.
Terri will be remembered as a bright, shining light by the numerous students with whom she shared her love of the piano with over the years, and for the beautiful music she brought to the liturgy in various area parishes.
In addition to her husband, Jeffrey, and their five sons, Jeffrey S. (Amy), Mark C (Kate), William M. (Suzen), Brian D. (Jaimie), and James E. (Shirley); she will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, Grace, MaryKate, Ella, Luke, Cameron, Vivian, Leah, Colin and Izabella; and her brothers, Rev. Fr. Stanley Szczapa and Robert Szczapa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7th at 11:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd in Danbury with her brother, Rev. Stanley Szczapa concelebrating.
The family will greet friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St, Danbury on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
The Stewart family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hartford Hospital ER, Middle State Hospital ER, and the Berlin Police department for assisting the family in a time of crisis.
Memorials contributions may be made in her memory to St. Gregory the Great Church.
