Obituary of Marguerite Mazurkewitz
Marguerite “Rita” Mazurkewitz, of Danbury passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 24, 2022.
Rita was born in Saulnes, France on August 14, 1938, daughter of the late Celestino “Charles” and Josephine (Zanini) Borz. Her family immigrated from France to the United States, settling in New York City shortly after the Second World War when she was 12 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Anthony R. Mazurkewitz, to whom she was married to for 54 years. Rita was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, and past parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Brookfield.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Rita was a woman of conviction in her faith, always staying committed to embodying the teachings of Jesus Christ. Her family finds comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace in her heavenly home beside her husband.
In her honor she leaves behind 2 sons; John and Michael Mazur, along with her daughter, Michele Novella and her fiancé John Rallo. Her six grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha and Monica Mazur, along with Joseph, Alec and Faith Novella. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Endrizzi; and her beloved cat, Bozz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 28th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.StJude.org. Or, in keeping with her devotion to St. Rita, patroness of impossible causes and hopeless circumstance, donations may be made to DA America, www.Daamerica.org, non-profit organization assisting individuals suffering from substance use, focusing on the physical, mental and spiritual condition as a whole, while contributing to the individual’s social reintegration in a dignified way.
