Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Lyall
Joan E. Lyall, formerly of Brookfield, wife of the late Douglas Lyall, died peacefully at Wilton Meadows on Thursday, May 5th. She was born in Hastings on Hudson, NY on June 7, 1934, daughter of the late Albert G. and Julia Ann (Kelly) Molloy.
Joan worked for many years for the Brookfield Town Clerk’s office before retiring in 2014. She was an active member of the St. Joseph's parish in Brookfield; was a Eucharist minister, taught religious education, sang in the choir, and performed in the minstrel show for many years. Joan was a member of Quota International and in the Women's Auxiliary of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.
She will be sadly missed by her four children, Julia Piedad (Angel), Christopher Lyall (Debbie), Daniel Lyall (Ellen), and Maureen Lyall (Jo); her seven grandchildren, Luke, Todd and Aine Piedad, William, Morgan, Jackson and Reed Lyall.
She was predeceased by her son, David Lyall, and her siblings, Al Molloy, Ivy Main, Pat Fernand, and Judy Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12th at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. Interment will follow in Prince of Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Dept. at 92 Pocono Road, Brookfield CT 06804.
