Obituary of Winifred A. Gotthardt
Winifred A. Gotthardt, 85, of Danbury, beloved wife of William F. Gotthardt, Jr., died peacefully at her home on Friday, June 24, 2022. She was born in New York, NY on May 28, 1937, daughter of the late John and Helena (Conmy) Lally.
Winnie, as she was known to her family and friends, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was often found at the New Fairfield Town Park or the beach for her children’s various activities. She was lovingly nicknamed “the General,” and provided a solid foundation for her family.
A devout Catholic, she was a longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. She was also a member of the Squantz Pond Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and worked as a court clerk for the Danbury Superior Court for many years.
Winnie and William would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary on July 3rd.
In addition to William, she will be sadly missed by her children, Donna Kruszynski, William F. Gotthardt III, and Thomas P Gotthardt, Sr. and his wife, Christine; her 9 grandchildren, Kevin Kruszynski, Carrie Ford and her husband, Nathan, Daniel Ceresna and his wife Kim, Dayna and Jake Ceresna, John M. Gotthardt Jr., Justin Gotthardt and his wife, Alexa, Samantha and Thomas Gotthardt, Jr.; and seven great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her children, Darlene Ceresna and John M. Gotthardt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30th at 10:30am at St. Edward the Confessor Church. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday between the hours of 5:00 – 7:00pm.
