Obituary of Irma Margaret Neary
Irma Veltidi Neary (Eme), 91, formally from Candlewood Isle New Fairfield, CT. and the time of her death was under the care of St. John Paul ll for the last 3 years, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022.
Irma was born in Nanuet, N.Y. on May 26,1931, to the late Vittorio Veltidi and Maria Margarita Farotto Veltidi. Growing up in a large Northern Italian family who she adored. She was pre deceased by her husband Donald Neary.
Eme and Don made a home for their family in Pearl River, N.Y. and raised their three children there and bravely moved in 1971 to Wayzata, Mn. It was there she found her love of retail. In 1977 they returned East to beautiful Candlewood Isle, New Fairfield, CT.
Irma always welcomed all and everyone to the Isle house. No one was ever turned away. Noted for her hospitality, and was happiest there and welcomed all her grandsons friends and of course her family.
Dress Barn was her second love. She worked herself up to be the manager at the Danbury Store.( we can still hear her say: " My feet are this way because I had to wear high heels all day) Irma was quite the character and had a language all her own which we lovingly called Irmaisms.
Memories of her "home away from home" Aruba" is a place we all will continue to enjoy in her memory.
Irma is survived by her children: Donna (Warren) Reynolds, Mardette(Bob) Corcoran and Michael (Janet) Neary. her brothers Vittorio ( Jean) and Benvenuto (Toni) Veltidi.
pre deceased by her brother Valentino (Kay), beloved sister Louise ( Venerando aka Freddie) Tagliarini, Pasquale (Lillian) and many loving nieces and nephews.
Gramma will sorely be missed by her beloved grandchildren: Ryan, Jesse ,Anthony and Samuel (Cris) Reynolds. She was very fortunate to also be able to enjoy her time with her great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Elizabeth Reynolds and Bridget and Bonnie Reynolds. Irma is also survived by her brother- in- law Marty ( Crissy) Neary
Arrangements were made compassionately by Cornell Funeral Home, Danbury, CT.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday August 10th 2022.at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Cemetery 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, N.Y.
