Obituary of Clarence Arthur Joyce Jr.
Clarence A. Joyce, 103, of New Milford, beloved husband of Mary (McGrath) Joyce, died peacefully at Candlewood Valley Health on Thursday, August 18th. He was born in Brookfield on March 13, 1919, son of the late Clarence Sr., and Helen (Alaby) Joyce. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford.
Clarence was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving with the United States Navy.
He worked in maintenance for Republic Foil for many years and was a member of Union 40 Lodge for more than 75 years. He was well known for his ability to fix anything.
His happiest times were visiting with family and friends, and spending winters with Mary in Florida for 35 years. He remained active and continued to drive his car until he was 100.
In addition to his wife of 84 years, Mary, he will be sadly missed by his three children, Ronald Joyce and his wife, Diane, Carole Timan and her husband, Timothy, and Nancy Schulz and her husband, Thomas; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, August 29th at 11:30am. Burial in Central Cemetery, Brookfield, will follow.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning between 10:30 – 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or RVNA Hospice.
