Obituary of Louise S. Hale
Louise S. Hale, 97, formerly of Danbury, beloved wife of the late Richard. M. Hale, died peacefully at Bethel Healthcare on Tuesday, October 25th. She was born in New York, NY on October 5, 1925, daughter of the late Henry and Louise (Kaufmann) Beckmann. She was a graduate of Newtown High School in NY
Louise was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving stateside in the 1950's with the United States Marine Corp in Paris Island, SC and Washington DC.
She worked as a clerk typist for the US government in her younger years. She married Richard in October 1963, moved to Stamford, CT for a short time, then moved to Danbury, and went on to work for Grolier Corp. in the 1970’s, then the Danbury High School Library until retirement in the late 1980's.
Louise was a past member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Danbury, and a current member Prince of Peace in Brookfield. She enjoyed volunteering in various areas, and was talented at crocheting.
She will be sadly missed by her two children, Richard J. Hale and Deborah McIlrath; her grandsons, William, John and Kevin McIlrath.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd at 10:00am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday between the hours of 5:00 – 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in her memory may be made to Prince of Peace church or a charity of your choosing.
