Obituary of Shirley Whitmire
Mrs. Shirley (Varner) Whitmire, age 77, of Southbury, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife for 59 years of Bishop Henry G. Whitmire, Jr. Mrs. Whitmire was born August 23, 1945 in Union, South Carolina, daughter of the late Oren Farr and Dorothy (Quinn) Varner. She was retired after working as a Home Health Aide for over 40 years with the Danbury VNA and the Danbury Nurses Registry, and was a member of the Mountain Church of God in Brookfield. She was a cancer survivor who enjoyed doing word search puzzles and loved helping people, reading the Bible and watching God’s creatures in their natural habitats. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Whitmire is survived by many loving friends. Mrs. Whitmire’s family will receive relatives and friends at His Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 2 Vail Road, Bethel, on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 4 to 5 p.m. A Going Home Service will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 5 to 6 p.m. at His Vineyard Christian Fellowship 2 Vail Road Bethel. Burial will be private.
