Obituary of Ann Cecelia McCaffrey
Ann Cecelia McCaffrey, 89, wife of the late John “Jack” J. McCaffrey, died on Tuesday, November 29th in New Milford, CT with her devoted, loving family by her side. She was born in Queens, NY on February 10, 1933, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Doran) McEwan.
Ann and Jack made their home in Syosset, NY while raising their family.
For the last 30 years Ann enjoyed her many friends, relatives and community life in Brooksville, FL. Ann was a volunteer, assisting in the office of Hospice in Hernando County, FL. She loved playing Boggle and dominoes with her friends, shopping, reading, good music, movies and had a talent for crochet. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family who truly cherished her.
Ann was a woman of great faith. A devout Catholic, she prayed for those she loved daily. She was unsurpassed in virtue and her trust in the Lord drove her tenacious and valiant battle with cancer. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor in Syosset, NY and more recently St. Theresa Church in Spring Hill, FL.
Ann is survived by her three children, Kevin McCaffrey and his wife Maureen, Catherine Baldi and her husband Peter, and Carolyn DeRocco and her husband Rory; her four grandchildren, Kevin McCaffrey and his wife Stephanie, Donna DeRocco, Michael McCaffrey and his wife Lindsey, and Danny DeRocco and his wife Nicole; her five great-grand-children; Hailey, Mikey, Brantley, Jack and Aurora McCaffrey; and her sister-in-law Maureen Cestare and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three sisters and many extended family members.

The family will receive friends at at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Avenue Westbury, NY, on Monday December 5th from 4 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Syosset, NY, on Tuesday December 6th at 11 AM. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery beside her husband, John, following visitation and memorial services at Brewer & Sons Funeral Home, 4450 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, FL, 34606 on Friday December 9th from 8 to 10 am
