Obituary of Joan Reed Banks
Joan Reed Banks, 87, of Bethel passed away peacefully on Monday December 5, 2022 at Regional Hospice in Danbury. She was the wife of John William Banks, Sr.
Joan was born October 8, 1935 in Liverpool, England to the late John and Hannah Reed. She came to the United States as an au pair in 1962.
Joan always looked forward to visits with loved ones back in England, spending time with family, but above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
Joan enjoyed watching sports and cheering for her favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Liverpool football. She had a special place in her heart for animals, but dogs Bailey and Tanya and cats Disney and Chase were most cherished. Joan loved going to lunch with friends, chatting on the phone, shopping at her favorite shops in Bethel and going for walks at the Bethel track.
In addition to her husband, John, Joan will be missed by her sons: Douglas Banks and his partner Lorin Dalessio of Danbury, and John William Banks, Jr of Danbury; siblings: Les Reed, Dave Reed, Ronald Reed, and Lillian Harrison; and grandchildren: Kiley, Kate, and Jack.
Funeral Service will be at 11am on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel. Those wishing to donate in Joan’s memory, please visit the official ASPCA site at www.secure.aspca.org
Please share a comforting memory with Joan’s family or light a candle in her honor.
