Obituary of Lee Grande Cannon Cooper, Sr.
Spout Springs, VA – Mr. Lee Grande Cannon Cooper, Sr., aka “Grande” to his local customers and “The Champion” age 56, formerly of Danbury, died unexpectedly on Thursday January 5, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Christine Ruth “Chrissy” (Taylor) Cooper.
Mr. Cooper was born November 4, 1966 in Hartford, CT son of the late Asa Cooper Sr. and the late Elizabeth Ruth (Stanley) Cooper and was raised in Danbury. He was the best “old School” paving contractor in the area for many years and took great pride in working hard and passing on his legacy of hard work to his sons who were his “Champions”. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Christine and his treasured sons. He was an Evangelist for over 25 years and his passion was preaching the Gospel. He carried the Cross down Main Street in Danbury every Good Friday.
In addition to his wife “Chrissy”, Mr. Cooper is survived by his children: LeGrande Cannon Cooper, Jr. and his wife Sammi Jo, Sabino Antonio Cooper and his wife Bernadette Marie Cooper, and Giovanni Joseph Cooper, Christine’s daughters: Rosanne L. Waters, Angela L. Waters, Tracey Buckley (Justin), Nicole Taylor, and Tiffany Taylor Sprague his siblings: Jean Cooper (Larry Cooper, Jr.), Amey Cooper (Larry Cooper, Sr.), Elizabeth Squires, Carrie Ingleston (Robert), Katherine Cooper, Sophia Buescher, Mary Hall (Guy), Charlotte Cooper, Richard Cooper (Gina), and Asa Cooper Jr.(Bing), his grandson: LeGrande Cooper III, Chrissy’s grandchildren: CJ, Jeremiah, Brayden and AvaLynn, his former wife and mother of his children: Bruna Giannelli, his brother in law: Grant Williams and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Gloria (Cooper) Williams, Gary Cooper, Edward Cooper and his brother in laws: William “Brother Bill” Buescher, William “Biddy” Squires and his niece: Sophia "Little Mussy" Buescher.
Mr. Cooper’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home 247 White Street Danbury on Tuesday January 10, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church in Brookfield. Burial will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery.
