Obituary of William G. Thomas
New Milford – Mr. William G. Thomas, age 87, of New Milford, passed away peacefully on Friday February 10, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann (McLellan) Thomas, after 65 years of marriage.
William (Bill) was born June 15, 1935 in Muscatine, Iowa. He was the son of the late Harold Guy and Merle Madge (Rodruck) Thomas. Bill retired from American Can Company after working for nearly 40 years, as a quality control engineer. He was an active member and Elder at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield CT. Bill also served as the Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Southern New England. He was a former owner, along with his wife, of the Rolling Pin Bakery in New Milford. In his retirement, he and his wife Ann worked in after school care at the Mitchell Elementary School in Woodbury. He enjoyed camping, playing games with his grandchildren and had a special tradition of skipping with his grandchildren to celebrate special occasions. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a prankster.
Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his children: Craig Thomas of New Milford, Jeffrey Thomas and his wife Leslie of New Preston and Jennifer Allen and her husband Daniel of New Milford, his grandchildren: Ryan Thomas, Heather Johnson and her husband Keith, Evan Thomas, Venessa Travieso, Natasha Travieso, Kayla Thomas, Sarah Allen and Rachel Allen, his great grandchildren: Cypress, Bodhi, Ethan, Alexander, Jessenia, Alexa, Justin, Gianna, Cohen and Liliana and his great great grandson: Emani. He was predeceased by his brothers: Richard and James Thomas.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday February 16, 2023 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Valley Presbyterian Church 21 West Whisconier Road Brookfield. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in New Milford. The Cornell Memorial Home 247 White Street Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
