Obituary of Carl Edward Palmer

Danbury – Mr. Carl E. Palmer, age 84, of Danbury, Connecticut passed away peacefully at Regional Hospice in Danbury on Saturday, May 6, 2023. He was the loving husband of Carolyn A. (Clark) Palmer, having been happily married to one another for 62 years.

Mr. Palmer was born June 19, 1938, in Warren, Ohio, son of the late George L. and Marjorie (Snyder) Palmer. He received his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from Case Institute of Technology, as well as graduate degrees from Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology. He was a mechanical engineer and he worked for Allied Chemical, Berol Corporation, New England Graphics, Uniroyal, Sikorsky Aircraft, Dow United Technologies, and Hamar Laser. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield, CT, for almost 50 years. He engaged with the community by being a member of several organizations, including the Lions Club, the Brookfield Jaycee’s, and the Greater Danbury Area Men’s Club.

When not busy working, or spending time with his family, Mr. Palmer invested much of his time in sports. He enjoyed playing tennis, softball, bridge, and bowling, managing to achieve the rank of Silver Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League, and being inducted into the USBC Fairfield County Hall of Fame for bowling. Not only did he enjoy playing sports but had a passion for coaching as well. Over his lifetime he coached girl’s fast-pitch softball, men’s slow-pitch softball, co-ed slow-pitch softball and bowling for 50 years, for the duration his children were involved in sports, and beyond. Throughout his coaching over the years, he received numerous awards. Also an avid sports fan, he religiously followed the UConn Huskies and was a diehard fan of the New York Mets & Jets.

In addition to his wife Carolyn, Mr. Palmer is survived by his children: Brian Palmer and his wife, Josette Ciardullo, of Hopewell Junction, NY, Kevin Palmer and his wife, Anne, of Powder Springs, GA, and Jennifer Castellano and her husband, Steve, of Harrison, NY, and his seven grandchildren: Zachary, Alexander, Madison, Anthony, Leeann, Beck, and Seven.
