Obituary of Jean E. Hellyer
Jean E. Hellyer, a proud Englishwoman 97, of New Milford, wife of the late Walter C. Hellyer, died at her home on Sunday, July 23, 2023. She was born in London, England on October 15, 1925, daughter of the late Norman and Margaret Collinson-Jones.
Jean made her home on three different continents. No matter where she lived she always made a loving home.
She had many jobs throughout the years. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family in her down time.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had an amazing ability with crafts included knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, quilting, sewing and gardening. She was a voracious reader. Her greatest love was her bassett hound, Penny.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Jill Elwell and Gay Herbst; her grandchildren, Jason Herbst, Christopher, Jonathan, and Timothy Elwell, Kyle, Nicole, Adam and Heather Hellyer. she is also survived by her brother, Anthony Collinson-Jones; her nephew, Peter Jaggers; and her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Becchia and 9 great grandchildren including her namesake Jean Elwell.
She was predeceased by her son, Michael Hellyer her brother John Collinson-Jones and her sister Pamela Jaggers.
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.
Interment in St. Paul Episcopal Church Memorial Garden will take place on Saturday, July 29 2023 at 1130 am.
In lieu of flower donations are greatly appreciated to the Connecticut Humane Society.
