Obituary of Lawrence Edward Leavitt
Lawrence E. Leavitt, of Newtown, husband of the late Patricia Leavitt, died at Danbury Hospital on Sunday, August 20, 2023. He was born in Norwalk on January 1, 1934, son of the late Herbert W. and Laura (Palmer) Leavitt.
Larry was a Veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician with the Union IBEW for more than 36 years. He retired from Kimberly Clark in 1995.
Larry was a proud, longtime member of the VFW in Newtown, Post 308.
During his years of retirement, Larry enjoyed being a member of the Fairfield League of Yankee Radio Controllers (FLY RC) AMA Chapter 803 in Newtown. Larry built and proudly flew his RC airplanes with the dear friends he made in the chapter.
He is survived by his three children, Lisa Cella (Fred), Herbert W. Leavitt (Colleen) and Kim L. Slater (Michael). Larry is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held privately.
