Watching Steve and my Brother Tom play ball growing up, our Dads, Ozzie and Tony working at John Hancock together when we were kids, picnics etc…..Lots of memories I have.
Losing a Husband, Father and so much more Steve was is hard but especially a Brother to Sandy, the bond of a Sister and Brother is one that cannot be broken.

I got to know Steve pretty well playing baseball with him at WCSU for three years. The obituary mentioned his respectable playing career.
Steve's senior season, I often batted right behind Steve and got to watch him from the on deck circle. Steve was absolutely super-human that year. I was in awe how he seemed to pound everything any pitcher threw at him.
Early in the season, before Steve had become dominant, I walked up to the plate as Steve touched home after slamming a home run in the first inning. The catcher said to me, 'he's a beast' to which I replied something to the effect 'he's ok'.
A few innings later, boom - Steve crushed another homer. I walk to the plate and the catcher says to me 'yeah he's ok!'.
Steve with the utmost respect and affection - you were always far better than ok! You brought so much talent, humility and laughter to the team and we were all better because of it. My deepest condolences to his very loving family. Tom Rose

Steve.... you were such a great dear friend for many many years. I will miss our football conversations about the NFL and the Yankees. I will miss your funny whit and calling me a dummy when things went wrong here at my house that you came over at a drop of dime to fix.
