Obituary of Daniel A Genovese Jr.

Brookfield – Daniel A. (Dan) Genovese, 86, of Brookfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT.

Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dan was born in Port Chester, NY to Daniel and Karin Genovese on April 27, 1937. He went to Port Chester Senior High School and graduated in 1955. He went on to earn a degree at Iona College, graduating Cum Laude with a BA degree in Economics.

He was employed by The Perkin-Elmer Corp for 30 years in various positions including Director of Corporate Services, Assistant Group Controller, and Division Controller.

Additionally, he was employed by a subsidiary of Hughes Electronics for seven years as the Director of Finance, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer. He ultimately retired from the Raytheon Corporation after three years.

Dan met his future wife, Geri, while both in their teens and it was truly love at first sight. He married at age 21 and spent the rest of his life with his loving wife culminating in a marriage that lasted 65 years. Together they dedicated their early years of marriage to raising their three children.

While living in Wilton, he was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Wilton United Way and served as Chairman of an annual campaign.

He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown, CT, as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Parish Council and Chairman of the Finance Committee.

After moving to Brookfield, he became active in St. Joseph’s Church as a Eucharistic Minister and Treasury Minister. He also served as a long-time board member and Treasurer of his homeowners association.

During these years, Dan was an avid fan of tennis and he also played a few times a week into his late seventies. He also loved to travel with his wife, and in the post-child-rearing years they managed to visit most of the US National Parks, Canada, several European and Scandinavian countries, as well as Russia. He also enjoyed the Broadway Theatre.

In addition to his wife Geri, Mr. Genovese is survived by his children: Stephan A. Genovese and his wife Susan, Gary D. Genovese and his wife Ofelia, and Dana A. Grey and her husband Stephen. His grandchildren: Brian Genovese and his wife Stephanie, Stephanie Wajda and her husband Mat, Stephan Genovese, Jr. and his wife Lindsey, Staci Seibert and her husband Mark, Devon Grey, Logan Grey, and Daniel Genovese. His great-grandchildren: Wesley Genovese, Tyler Wajda, Gianna Wajda, Angelina Genovese, and Luca Genovese.
