Obituary of Virginia L. Murphy
Virginia (Knapp) Murphy, of Danbury, beloved wife of 56 years to Jack Murphy, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, February 27th. She was born in Danbury on October 26, 1946, daughter of the late Adelbert and Virginia Knapp. She was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church in Danbury
A graduate of Berkley Secretarial School, Ginny worked as a legal secretary for several area law firms.
Ginny was the devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren. Some of her happiest memories were made while summering in her childhood vacation home in Sebago Lake Maine.
Ginny enjoyed Swedish weaving and always looked forward to Friday “date night, pizza night” with Jack.
In addition to her husband, Jack, she will be missed by her daughter, Robyn Wood; her grandchildren, Madison and Ryan Wood; her brother, G. Robert Knapp and his wife, Jane; and her former son-in-law, Justin Wood. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be at St. James Episcopal Church on Wednesday, March 6th at 11:00am. Interment in Wooster Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, on Tuesday, March 5th between the hours of 5:00 – 7:00pm.
Memorial Contributions her memory may be made to St. James Episcopal Church.
