Obituary of Arthur Rich
Arthur Rich, 91, of New Fairfield, beloved husband of 61 years to Ann (Molloy) Rich, died peacefully at Bethel Healthcare on Saturday, March 2nd. He was born in Bronx, NY on February 11, 1933, son of the late Louis and Mildred (Kroll) Rich. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from New York University and was a renowned mathematician, working for two Fortune 500 companies over the span of his five decade career.
Art was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving stateside with the United States Army. He worked as a statistical analyst for Union Carbide Corp. in New York City, prior to moving his family to New Fairfield in 1981 before retiring after 30 years. After retirement, he became a Computer Science professor at the University of Connecticut.
Known as a huge NY Yankees fan, Art enjoyed following sports of all kinds, especially college basketball with his favorite team, the UConn Huskies. He loved the company of others and always looked forward to spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his cherished wife, Ann, he will be sadly missed by his three children, Monica Geary and her husband, Chris, Edward Rich and his wife, Vicky, and John Rich and his wife, Stephanie; his nine grandchildren Andrew, Sara (and her husband, Tyler), Christina, John, Katie, Harrison, Hannah, Evan and Jesse; sister-in-law, Anita Rich, and one great grandchild, Olivia. He was predeceased by his brother, Martin Rich.
Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury on Friday, March 8th 2024. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday between the hours of 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
