Obituary of Margaret Marie Schneider
Danbury - Margaret Marie Schneider, age 85, passed away serenely on Tuesday, March 6, 2024, at Maplewood at Stony Hill in Bethel.
Born on April 16, 1938, in New York City, Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Walter and Paula (Gordon) Schneider. She retired after a dedicated career as a teacher and administrator in the Stamford Public Schools. Margaret was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury, serving on the school board and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Beyond her church involvement, she volunteered on the Girl Scout Council's Board of Directors, provided tutoring for Literacy Volunteers, and assisted the Grassy Plain YMCA's after-school program. Margaret's love for reading and travel brought joy to her life.
She leaves her beloved sisters, Pauline E. Schneider of Danbury and Elizabeth A. Thomson of New Fairfield, along with three nieces, one nephew, and nine great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Margaret's life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Cornell Memorial Home, located at 247 White Street in Danbury. There are no calling hours. The family will later lay her to rest in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton.
