Obituary of Frank Artese
Frank D. Artese, of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Santina (Rigano) Artese, died peacefully at Regional Hospice on Thursday, March 14th. He was born in the Bronx on July 22, 1931, son of the late Philip and Jean (Benevento) Artese.
Frank was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal, Germany.
He worked his whole career for General Foods in various positions working his way up from the mailroom to Comptroller of the Dover Delaware plant. Frank loved to play bocce and was one of the original members of the New Fairfield Bocce League, so special to them that they named a court in his honor. Most of all Frank (Pop or Poppy) loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Frank was a generous man always offering a helping hand where needed.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph and beloved brother-in-law Santo (Sandy) Carilli.
He will be sadly missed by his four children, Theresa DeNove and her husband, Rich, with whom he made his home, Philip and Michael Artese, Barbara McKirdy and her husband, Gregg; his 12 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Marie Carilli and Frances Schenk and her husband, Peter.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20th at 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, March 19th between the hours of 4:00 – 8:00pm.
Memorial Contributions in his memory may be made to Regional Hospice of Danbury or Tunnels to Towers.
