Obituary of Marian Roberta Miller

Marian R. Miller, of Brookfield CT, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, with her loving husband and best friend, John, by her side.  John and Marian were proud to say they met at 15 and were married 64 years.  She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 28, 1939, daughter of the late Robert and Willa “Juanita” (Payne) Thomas, and sister Katie Thomas Tracy.

Marian was a special person. She will be remembered as a kind and strong woman with a great sense of humor.  Her family and friends knew her to be loving, creative, and most of all an amazing wife, mother, and friend. Marian loved being an elementary school teacher for over 40 years and spent 27 years in the Brookfield School System. She had many interests that included decorating, traveling, and being a member at the Brookfield Playhouse,

Marian was a longtime member of the Brookfield and Danbury Women’s Club.  She was known for her passion to sell Poinsettias every Christmas, loved to entertain, and never missed an event her children participated in. Everyone knew Marian was coming when they saw the bright orange Corvette pulling in.

Spending time as a family was most important to her whether it was at home or on a special new adventure.  She cherished an annual trip to Rhode Island that was a family tradition. She always loved her family and friends for being by her side unconditionally.

In addition to her husband, John, she will be missed by her sons, Sean Miller and his wife, Tina Marie, Shannon Miller and his wife, Kathleen, her daughter, Stacy Miller and Dickie Murchison.  Marian has two grandchildren, Chantz Marie Miller and Matthew Murchison; and four Newfoundland dogs that will always call her G’ma.  She will also be missed by her nieces Amy Nicholson Gardipee and Sandra Nicholson Utterback,

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Saturday, April 6th between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00pm.
