Sonny brought the orchestra to our wedding in October of 2000. Such a wonderful memory. We are so happy still to have been able to share Sonny and his music with our family and friends. What a wonderful long life!

Some good and funny memories come to mind of, the moments before the band begins to play. Some very funny remarks to the band members with direction in dynamics and the feeling he wants to get across as an ensemble, some, I’m afraid must remain among band members, might not even be appropriate in mixed company, ( as I laugh out loud thinking about it, phrases that would make you chuckle; analogies to keep things light, yet to the point ). He was definitely a voice of experience, so, like the Godfather, didn’t need to demand our respect, he had it. Walking into the gig/ performance, band members, one at a time, would greet Angelo, as a priority, before taking off their coat or taking their instrument out. Many times he has said to us, “ if you listen, pay attention, you could be big like me someday.”
Then in 2015, a big moment for our hero, as he was honored for his musical contributions in arranging, writing and maintaining the Big Band Live Jazz Tradition at the 39th Annual Wilton Jazz Symposium.
This proved to be a great inspiration for many high school level jazz band students performing, as well as all In attendance, as some of his arrangements were performed as a tribute presentation by Leader, Chip Zellner and the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra. This a big moment indeed! And I, so proud to be part of that experience! Thank you again Angelo!!

Victoria thank you for sharing the photos and stories. You’ll have to tell me more when I see you. And a big thank you to Chip for planning that performance in Wilton honoring my father. We all always said that was such a special thing for him to do !!! And thank you for all that you always did for both of my parents. It was always very appreciated. XoXo

I will never forget Angelo and what a wonderful man he was. I got my 1st car from him, a Volkswagen. He and his wife used to take Diane, Vinny & i to
Sit N Bull in Lake George. I am so sorry to hear this news. He is now in heaven, may God always bless his family. I will never forget him.
