Obituary of Angelo Testanero a/k/a Sonny Carroll
Danbury - Angelo Henry "Sonny Carroll" Testanero, of Danbury, age 100 and one day, passed away on August 6, 2020 at the Danbury Hospital. Angelo was born in Montreal, Canada on August 5, 1920 to the late Vincent and Madeline (Manes) Testanero and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rose (Gigliotti) Testanero.
Angelo proudly served in the United States Army during WWll in Panama. He was eventually ordered to play the saxophone in the Army band and later became the arranger. After his service, he continued his love of music by arranging and composing for his band the Sonny Carroll Orchestra and was writing music up to the day before he passed. In addition to his music, Angelo was also the owner of his family business, Unionvale Autobody.
Angelo will be sadly missed by his wife Rose Testanero,; his children Diane Fenwick and her husband William of New Fairfield, and Vincent Testanero of New York; his Brother: Jack Testanero and many nieces and nephews. Angelo was predeceased by his siblings: Constance Testanero, Lena Licursi, Jenny Davio, Teresa Bozzuto, Arthur Testanero, Eugene Testanero and Albert Testanero.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church in Danbury on Saturday August 15, 2020 at 10 a.m. Family and friends wishing to attend the mass are asked to preregister at 203-748-8177. For those who are unable to attend, the mass will be livestreamed at www.stjosephchurchdanbury.org
