Obituary of Bettie L. Maclay
Bettie L. Maclay, 86, of Brookfield, Connecticut, died peacefully at The Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut on February 25, 2024. She was born in Boston, MA, on September 5, 1938, during The Great New England Hurricane of 1938 (category 5). As a proud Bostonian, Bettie attended Hyde Park High School and Simmons Women’s College. She met her beloved late husband, Don, while on a blind date, and later, they married at the Marsh Chapel at Boston University (Don’s alma mater). Bettie was an avid reader, enjoyed quilting, and had a passion for genealogy. Also, she was an active community volunteer and Walnut Hill Community Church member. In addition to her parents, Bettie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Maclay. She will be greatly missed by her children, Jonathan Maclay of Bridgeport, CT; Jeffrey Maclay (Leslie) of Ashburn, VA; Jennifer Toussaint (Mark) of New Milford, CT; and Julie Maclay of Long Beach, CA; and her grandchildren, Peyton, Spencer, Emma, Gil, and Ryder.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, CT. A service will immediately follow from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
